The creators of the Mixtape game have announced a delay in its release until 2026.
According to XboxEra, the Beethoven and Dinosaur studio announced a delay in the release of its next game. This title, which is being published in collaboration with Annapurna Interactive, was originally scheduled for release in 2025 but has now been postponed until 2026. According to the development team, the game, known as Mixtape, which tells a teenage story with a special soundtrack, still needs more time to reach its final development stage.
In a social media post addressing the delay, the developers also suggested a few songs for Mixtape fans, including “I’m Sorry” by John Denver, “It Won’t Be Long” by The Beatles, and “Almost There” by Andy Williams.
A section of the team’s official statement reads: “While making The Artful Escape, one of our 3D artists, Mikey, designed a model of an oven. A beautiful and detailed oven, whose buttons were even meticulously crafted. This is who we are at Beethoven & Dinosaur; we always make the buttons. Mixtape is almost complete, we’re just putting on the buttons, and look forward to it in 2026.”
According to the developers’ descriptions, Mixtape tells the story of a teenager named Rockford who, on the last night of high school, embarks on a final adventure with his two friends. Along the way, players are accompanied by a playlist of songs that lead them to dreamily recreate formative memories of their lives. In each part of the game, narrative and emotional scenes of important teenage moments are experienced. According to the development team, Mixtape is intended to be a blend of memories, music, and nostalgic emotions; a tribute to teenage friendships and the music of a generation that grew up with it.
Mixtape is scheduled to be released on an unspecified date in 2026 for Xbox Series X | Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms, and will be available to Game Pass users from day one.
