Minecraft’s Success Recorded in Guinness World Records
The popular game Minecraft solidified its position as the best-selling video game of all time, with over 350 million copies sold worldwide.
These new sales figures were confirmed by Mojang Studios in the “Minecraft Annual 2026” and reported by Guinness World Records in April 2025.
Minecraft, which initially started as a simple independent project by Swedish developer Markus “Notch” in 2009 and was officially released in November 2011, quickly became a cultural and commercial phenomenon and is now playable on almost all available gaming platforms, including PCs, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and mobile phones.
