Free Battlefield Battle Royale Officially Introduced; Red Sec Coming Soon to Gamers
DICE studio and Electronic Arts finally unveiled the new battle royale game in the Battlefield series, named Battlefield: Red Sec.
DICE studio and Electronic Arts finally unveiled the new battle royale game in the Battlefield series, named Battlefield: Red Sec. The game will be released on October 28, and as previously rumored, it will be available for free (Free-to-Play).
It has been a long time since rumors circulated about the development of a battle royale mode or game based on Battlefield 6. Testers have had access to early versions for some time, but now, for the first time, the developing studio has officially announced the game’s official name, release date, and business model; details that had, of course, leaked previously.
It seems the name Red Sec is a shortened version of “Redacted Sector”; a phrase also seen in promotional materials and early teasers for the game.
The release of Red Sec will coincide with the start of Battlefield 6’s first season, so fans of the series have a busy week ahead. On the other hand, the first-person shooter market will also be hotter than ever during this period; as Arc Raiders will be released on October 30 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in November.
The success of Battlefield’s sixth installment has also helped strengthen EA’s position. Earlier this month, the game was recognized as “the biggest launch in the series’ history” with 7 million copies sold in its first week.
However, Battlefield: Red Sec is set to enter a market already saturated with popular games like PUBG, Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, and even EA’s own Apex Legends. It remains to be seen whether Battlefield can find a place for itself in this tough competition.
