Halo officially came to PlayStation; the end of Xbox exclusivity.
Microsoft ended one of the biggest taboos in the gaming industry by unveiling the game Halo Combat Evolved. The Halo game series has arrived on the PlayStation platform, and according to a new press release, future games in the series will also be available on PS5. The three pillars of Xbox exclusivity: Halo, Gears of War, and Forza, have officially moved to the rival platform, marking a new era for Redmond and, of course, video game audiences.
The PR manager for Halo Studios mentioned the release of more Halo games for PlayStation in the published press release. Brian Jarrard wrote that Halo will henceforth be a multi-platform franchise and that “a new era for Halo” has begun. It is likely that every single game in this series will be remade and made available with modern graphics for all platforms. The Halo game series will be slowly released for PlayStation, and that perpetual taboo has been broken.
This year, we saw the release of Gears of War Reloaded for PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 5 was also released for PS5, and the sixth installment is also set to be released for this console. As a result, Xbox is no longer the only place to experience these games, and many are skeptical about the future of this brand. If Xbox has no exclusive games, then how will it continue to sell consoles and release new hardware?
Xbox is a different gaming brand

Sarah Bond, head of Xbox, referred to the concept of exclusive games as “old and antique” in an interview a few days ago. She believes that Microsoft’s philosophy is not based on exclusivity and that they want all gamers to enjoy their games. PlayStation and Nintendo are still clinging to exclusive games and see no reason to change. Of course, PlayStation releases its games for PC, but it has kept some series, such as Gran Turismo 7 and Demon’s Souls, exclusive to its console.
Matt, head of Xbox Studios, reacted to gamers’ concerns in an interview with The New York Times. He stated that their biggest competitor is no longer a console (referring to PlayStation) and that, in terms of entertainment, they must compete with other platforms such as TikTok and movies. In other words, he believes that fast entertainment like TikTok could deal a major blow to video games, and this has happened to some extent. Many prefer to spend hours on social media and watch free content rather than sit down for a twenty or fifty-hour game. What do you think?
